  • Wolfgang Schenck was an important figure in the Luftwaffe's development of the fighter-bomber, as well as pioneering work in the use of the Me 262 jet-bomber.
  • Schenck's superior knowledge of the use of the Bf 110 as a fighter-bomber meant that he lead most of the missions in the western front in late 1940 and early 1941.
  • He also flew Bf 110s over Russia and Fw 190s in the Mediterranean.
