Today, modern-day Kuang Shi bear a striking resemblance to them: they are political prisoners or repeat offenders subjected to intensive brainwashing and sentenced to a "deferred death penalty," a status highly useful to the system. Judicial specialists transform them into resolute soldiers, ready to sacrifice their lives for the one they once despised most: the Emperor.
